Israel carried out a "precision strike" against the senior leadership of the terrorist group Hamas. This was reported in a press release from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The document states that prior to the operation, steps were taken to reduce risks to the civilian population, including through the use of precision weaponry and additional intelligence.

The IDF did not disclose the area of the strike; however, according to Axios and Reuters, the attack occurred in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

Qatari television channel Al Jazeera, citing a source in Hamas, claims that the targets were participants in the ceasefire negotiations for the Gaza Strip.

According to Al Arabiya and Al Hadath, citing informed sources, several high-ranking members of the organization were killed as a result of the Israeli strike on Qatar.

Among them are Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip Khalil al-Hayya, the group's head in the West Bank Zaher Jabareen, and the chairman of the political bureau Khaled Mashal.

Neither the organization itself, nor Israel, nor Qatar have officially confirmed this information.

As stated by the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the decision to strike was made after the terrorist attack that occurred yesterday in Jerusalem. Israel notified the United States in advance of its plans to attack Qatar. According to the Jerusalem Post, Washington "gave the green light."

As noted by the Associated Press, the Hamas leadership has been based in Qatar for a long time, with Qatar acting as a mediator in negotiations with Israel.
