"Head to the forest": Russia's digital summons registry is now fully operational

A draft-eligible individual from Russia's Tver region (identity protected) reportedly received both a text message and an official notification through the Gosuslugi platform informing him that his military summons had been entered into a specialized digital registry. This incident demonstrates the system's operational status, according to the conscription assistance initiative "Go to the Woods."

Project representatives clarified that the notification included specific service dates and outlined various restrictions, notably prohibiting international travel. "While authorities hadn't formally announced the registry's full implementation until now, preparatory measures like mass notifications about data registration had been observed in preceding months," the "Walk the Forest" project stated.

Legal expert Artem Klyga informed the project that the Tver resident now has precisely one week before the summons becomes legally valid. Failure to comply could result in administrative penalties from military recruitment officials.

Legislative changes in 2023 mandated the complete digitalization of military registration processes, with the summons registry entering trial operations during autumn 2024.

Separately, July 2025 saw the introduction of proposed legislation in Russia's State Duma to enable year-round conscription procedures. However, the actual service periods would maintain their traditional schedule: April 1-July 15 and October 1-December 31 annually. This reform would allow continuous operation of medical evaluations, psychological assessments, and draft commission activities throughout the calendar year.
