From January 1 to June 19, 2026, airports in the Moscow aviation hub imposed restrictions at least 214 times because of aerial danger. The count covers Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky. The figures were reported by the outlet Vot Tak, which analyzed official statements from Rosaviatsia.
According to those calculations, the agency reported restrictions 23 times in January, 15 in February, 43 in March, 13 in April, and 67 in May. In less than three weeks of June, operations at Moscow airports were suspended 53 times.
From June 8 to June 19, those suspensions occurred every day. In effect, airport restrictions in June became a routine response to the threat of drone attacks.
Against that backdrop, on the night of June 18, Moscow and the surrounding region faced what the article describes as the largest Ukrainian drone attack since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to the report, nearly 200 drones were launched at the Russian capital.
As a result of the attack, a refinery in Kapotnya caught fire, while the Sadovod market and the Mega Belaya Dacha shopping center were damaged. The report says that more than 10 people were injured and that a child was killed.
The Vot Tak report, based on Rosaviatsia bulletins, indicates that the number of restrictions at Moscow airports rose sharply in June, when such measures began to be introduced every day.
