The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) has declined to transfer Sergei Salazkin, an Orenburg-based attorney convicted in a military "fake news" case, to a correctional facility. This information was confirmed to OVD-Info by his legal representative, Yevgenia Ryzhkova.
In April, the Buzuluk District Court handed Salazkin a one-and-a-half-year prison sentence under Article 207.3(1) of Russia's Criminal Code for allegedly spreading false information about the armed forces. The charges stemmed from his social media posts regarding missile attacks on Kramatorsk and Chernihiv. The conviction was upheld on July 17. Before this decision, Salazkin had remained free without detention.
