Rostov region police reimburse officers who refuse bribes

Alexander Rechitsky, head of the Rostov region branch of the Interior Ministry, announced that police who turn down bribes now receive the amount they were offered. He called it a reward for demonstrating a strong anti-corruption stance and said it helps foster an anti-corruption culture【477383580639119†L63-L82】. Rechitsky noted that since January the region has thwarted 260 bribery attempts, 135 discovered by officers themselves, and launched 25 criminal cases against suspected bribe‑givers. In total, 767 corruption offences were identified in the first half of 2025. The police chief added that priorities for the rest of the year include clamping down on phone scams, financial fraud, illegal logging and the trafficking of alcohol and drugs【477383580639119†L85-L87】.
